East African Research Initiative Partnership with IOBB Africa

In preparation for IOBB2012, the IOBB Uganda Chapter has established a close working relationship with African Research Networks for the purpose of
promoting their common objectives. One of the most promising networks of African researchers is the Lake Victoria Research Initiative (VicRes) which is
a regional research initiative that offers research grants in various disciplines related to promotion of poverty eradication and sustainable livelihood
and natural resources management within the Lake Victoria Basin.

The project aims to promote sustainable livelihood and natural resources management in the Lake Victoria Basin and to re-invigorate research and stimulate discussions on issues that affect people and the environment of the Lake Victoria Basin.

VicRes funds research proposals from five countries: Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda. The programme is hosted by the Inter-University Council for East Africa - http:www.iucea.org.
